Auto Body
Do you like working with your hands? Do you like the idea of having variety in your day to day tasks? How about seeing your work take shape in front of your eyes? Then auto body and collision repair may be the rewarding career choice for you. This program will provide a strong foundational understanding of the technologies and techniques used, along with numerous opportunities to perfect craftsmanship through actual repairs in our state of the art repair shop. This approach will equip the student with the necessary skill set to thrive within the industry, based on real world experience.
Auto Body 10 Intro (MECAA10XX) 5 credits
Auto body 10 is focused on teaching students how to work with metal to repair dents, scrapes and damage to vehicles. The program will teach students proper tool identification and usage, accurate measurements, filling techniques, shop safety and lab procedures.

Auto Body 20 Inter (MECAA20XX) 10 credits
Auto body 20 is a further enhancement to the students’ knowledge about how to work with metal to repair dents, scrapes and damage to vehicles. Students continue to investigate the career opportunities within this field. This course is offered at the Jack James Campus and will include a 5-credit workplace practicum.

Auto Body 30 Adv (MECAA30XX) 5 credits
Auto body 30 is the culmination of the past 2 years of training for students in the area of auto body work. The program is focused on expanding student knowledge about estimations, time management and job completion to repair dents, scrapes and damage to vehicles. Actual career opportunities are investigated, and students can research possibilities of employment. This course is offered at the Jack James Campus and will include a 5-credit workplace practicum.

Mechanics
This is a course for students who are interested in cars but not in becoming a mechanic. You will cover vehicle service and care, detailing, buying and selling, engine fundamentals and trim replacement.

Mechanics 10 Intro (MEC10XX) 5 credits
The Mechanics 10 program provides opportunities for students to learn about mechanical systems, automotive electrical systems, vehicle care and maintenance, the basics of hydraulic and pneumatic theory and the fundamentals of various spring, bounce control and steering systems. Students will learn about the tools used, safety in the shop and basic customer service.

Mechanics 20 A/B Inter (MEC20XX) 10 credits
The Mechanics 20 program provides more opportunities for students to enhance their basic knowledge about mechanical systems, automotive electrical systems, vehicle care and maintenance, the basics of hydraulic and pneumatic theory and the fundamentals of suspension and steering systems. Students will continue to expand their learning about the mechanics trade, the interrelated systems within vehicles and be more involved in providing customer service.
Prerequisite: Mechanics 10
Mechanics 30A/B Adv (MEC30XX) 10 credits
The Mechanics 30 program is a culmination of the past 2 years of work for students. Students add to their learning, while performing service on vehicles and begin their diagnostic skill enhancement.
