School Entry
For the safety and security of all students, doors to the school will remain locked until 8:25 a.m. They will then open from 8:25 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. for student arrival. They will remain locked until lunch when the doors will be open from 11:56 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
If a student arrives outside of the times above, they are required to ring the buzzer to gain entry.
Email Student Absences
If your child is going to be late or absent to school, please email forestlawn@cbe.ab.ca; this is a much quicker method to relay this information.
Our school telephone lines are very busy in the morning, and we cannot answer every call, so please try to email in the absence information.
🎓Grade 12 – Graduation Information
We encourage families of Grade 12 students to talk with their student about the graduation progress.
A Grade 12 student is generally considered on track if they have 75 credits at the start of Grade 12 and have passed all classes first semester. This helps ensure graduation by the end of the school year.
Alberta High School Diploma Requirements (100 credits)
Students must complete:
- English Language Arts 30-1 or 30-2
- Social Studies 30-1 or 30-2
- Mathematics 20-1, 20-2, or 20-3
- One Science 20 course (Science 20, Science 24, Biology 20, Chemistry 20, or Physics 20)
- Physical Education 10 (3 credits)
- Career and Life Management (CALM – 3 credits)
- 10 credits in CTS, Fine Arts, Second Language, or PE
- 10 credits in any 30-level courses (in addition to English 30 and Social 30)
Guidance Counsellors will be reviewing graduation progress with all Grade 12 students in the coming weeks. The next graduation list will be posted mid-February.
MyPass — Required for All Alberta High School Students
All Alberta high school students must have a MyPass account.
MyPass is used to:
- View diploma exam results
- Check progress toward graduation
- Order official transcripts
How to set up a MyPass account:
- Go to mypass.alberta.ca
- Click Sign Up
- Use a personal email address (not a CBE email)
- Follow the instructions to activate the account
Important reminder:
School email accounts will not work after graduation. Please ensure your personal email is added to your PowerSchool account. Our Guidance Secretary, Ms. Tammy, can support students with this. Students may also visit the Guidance Office for help during lunch hours or spare periods.
🎓Graduation Ceremony – June 5, 2026
To participate in the graduation ceremony, students must:
- Meet all Alberta Diploma requirements by the end of June, or
- Be within 5 credits of the 100-credit requirement, or
- Be missing only one required course, with a clear plan to complete it by August 2026
We encourage families to contact the Guidance team with any questions or concerns.

This includes:

- Support student safety
- Protect privacy
- Help students stay focused on learning
- Encourage positive communication with staff and peers
We appreciate your support in reviewing these expectations with your student.
FLHS Advisory Committee Upcoming Casino – Volunteers Needed
Consider joining us as a casino volunteer and help in raising funds for FLHS Student Programs.
We will be looking for individuals to help us out with our casino fundraiser on June 26-27, 2026, at Pure Casino – 1420 Meridian Rd NE
This is a great opportunity to get involved in your school community and give back while having a lot of fun. No previous experience is necessary. A casino advisor will fully train you before you begin your shift. All volunteers must be at least 18 years old and will be supported in their role by casino staff.
Some of the tasks we need help with include cashiers, chip runners, and count room staff.
Stay tuned for more information and how to sign up.
If you have any questions, please contact us at flhsadvisoryassociation@gmail.com, attention Celia Burns.
Winter Weather Reminders
Snow, cold temperatures and wind chill can make getting to and from school challenging. Families are reminded that extra caution should be taken during the winter months and periods of extreme weather. You can find more information on our winter weather page.
Families should be prepared for transportation delays and check for the status of their bus in the morning. You can find more information, including transportation service provider apps, on the Using Transportation in Cold Weather page.
CBE Schools Rarely Close Due to Snow or Cold Temperatures
Assume that schools are open unless you hear from your school. Information regarding any school closures due to weather will be posted on the CBE website and social media, and shared with local news media.
Report Student Absences
We respect the right of parents/guardians to make their own decisions about sending their children to school. If your child will not be attending classes, please ensure you contact the school's attendance email - forestlawn@cbe.ab.ca.
