Important Upcoming Dates January 26-27 – No Classes Wednesday, January 28 – First Day of Semester 2 Friday, January 30 – Professional Day – no classes School Entry For the safety and security of all students, doors to the school will remain locked until 8:25 a.m. They will then open from 8:25 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. for student arrival. They will remain locked until lunch when the doors will be open from 11:56 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. If a student arrives outside of the times above, they are required to ring the buzzer to gain entry. Semester 1 Book Returns Students are reminded that all first semester books must be returned by Jan 27th. Books can be returned to the Learning Commons or Main Office. Students are responsible to return all text and library book(s) issued to them. All books are scanned into the Textbook Tracker program and verified against the student’s name. Do not leave your books in a classroom or return them to a teacher. Students will not receive 2nd semester books until all 1st semester books have been returned. Semester 2 Start Up NO CLASSES MONDAY January 26 or Tuesday January 27 Wednesday, January 28 is the first day of semester 2 classes. It will be a regular day of classes on Wednesday. Students who have “See Counsellor” in one of their periods on their schedule are to report to the guidance office during this period to complete their timetable with their counsellor. A reminder for students on SPARES, students are required to be in the Learning Commons (Library) if they choose to be inside the school. Any students who are on a SPARE may not meet in the hallways of the school during their SPARE. The Learning Commons (Library) has bathroom passes for students on SPARE to use in the same way as the expectations for all classrooms. Semester 1 Report Cards Semester 1 Report Cards will be available to view and download through your MyCBE Account the week of February 2. Course Change Requests The course change request form has been closed for over one week. At this time, we cannot accept any new timetable or course change requests if the form was not completed before the deadline. Our Guidance team is still working through requests. There were over 350 requests, which makes this process very challenging. Most classes are now full and cannot accept more students. We sincerely thank all students who followed the course change process. Your cooperation helped our team work in a fair and organized way. Your Guidance Counsellor will contact you only if there is a concern with your request. 🎓Grade 12 – Graduation Information We encourage families of Grade 12 students to talk with their student about the graduation progress. A Grade 12 student is generally considered on track if they have 75 credits at the start of Grade 12 and have passed all classes first semester. If you would like to order a yearbook for 2025-2026 please do so soon, before they sell out. All year books are $40. You can order through the Jostens website (Jostens.com/orderyrbks). The deadline to order is February 28. FLHS Advisory Committee Upcoming Casino – Volunteers Needed Consider joining us as a casino volunteer and help in raising funds for FLHS Student Programs. We will be looking for individuals to help us out with our casino fundraiser on June 26-27, 2026, at Pure Casino – 1420 Meridian Rd NE This is a great opportunity to get involved in your school community and give back while having a lot of fun. No previous experience is necessary. A casino advisor will fully train you before you begin your shift. All volunteers must be at least 18 years old and will be supported in their role by casino staff. Some of the tasks we need help with include cashiers, chip runners, and count room staff. Winter Weather Reminders Snow, cold temperatures and wind chill can make getting to and from school challenging. Families are reminded that extra caution should be taken during the winter months and periods of extreme weather. You can find more information on our winter weather page. CBE Schools Rarely Close Due to Snow or Cold Temperatures Assume that schools are open unless you hear from your school. Information regarding any school closures due to weather will be posted on the CBE website and social media, and shared with local news media.
