Dear Parents and Families,

We are excited to introduce Academic Success Time at Forest Lawn High School this year. This is a new opportunity for all students to connect with their teachers, ask questions, receive additional support with their learning, or simply have a conversation with a trusted adult at school.

The development of Academic Success Time was informed by student voice and our ongoing conversations about what students need to be successful. Students have told us that having access to their teachers outside of regular class time can make a difference...whether they need clarification on an assignment, additional help with a course, support getting back on track, or simply an opportunity to connect with their teacher.

At Forest Lawn, our goal is to create a school where students are supported in achieving the goals they have set for themselves. We know that students do not all learn in the same way or at the same pace, and sometimes a few extra minutes with a teacher can make a significant difference. Academic Success Time gives students another opportunity to access the people and supports that can help them move forward.

Academic Success Time is available Monday to Thursday:

Before School: 8:25–8:50 a.m.
After School: 3:23–3:38 p.m.

During these times, teachers will be available for students who would like additional academic support, need help understanding their work, want to catch up on an assignment, or would benefit from connecting with their teacher.

We encourage families to talk with their child about taking advantage of this opportunity. Students do not need to be struggling in a course to use Academic Success Time. It can also be a time to ask a question, get feedback, prepare for an assessment, or connect with a teacher about how they can continue to improve.

We believe that student success is a shared responsibility, and Academic Success Time is one of the ways we are working to provide students with the time, relationships, and support they need to reach their goals.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support of our students. We look forward to working together to help every Forest Lawn student experience success.

Sincerely,

Mr. Fotopoulos
Principal
