The Career Center serves as a focus for career activities in the school and the community. Students, parents/guardians, and teachers are able to access:

  • Information and direction on researching occupations and exploring career possibilities
  • Assistance in developing career plans for post-secondary and career goals
  • In-class workshops and assistance with resume writing, interviewing skills and work search strategies
  • Guidance with bursary, scholarships and post-secondary application.

Launched in partnership with the Government of Alberta, the program provides career awareness for Aboriginal youth starting in middle school with an expanded choice of occupations for career exploration and internship experiences.

Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) - RAP is an apprenticeship program for high school students. Earn Credits! Earn Wages! Earn valuable work experience!!!

Post-Secondary Application Season

If a student in Grade 12 would like to start their post secondary journey the following September, they need to apply as soon as possible. Application deadlines are often March 1 but may be earlier, depending on the school.

If applying to university or a college in Alberta students must first set up an account with Apply Alberta. (This is the free part!) Go to https://www.applyalberta.ca/ click on the “Apply Now” button to get started.

Apply Alberta will then provide links to the institution of choice. Upon completion of the institution application, a processing fee will be required. Payment is a credit card only when applying online.

Tips when applying:

  1. Be sure the necessary prerequisites are completed by June. Summer school courses are not accepted at most post secondary institutions
  2. Remember to list both the first choice and second choice of programs
  3. When listing projected grades do not inflate the grades as it will not guarantee admission
  4. Ensure to complete all information to be considered for further admission scholarships
  5. Use a current email address that is checked regularly. If the submitted email address changes advise the institution applied to as soon as possible to avoid missed communication
